Commercial Relocation

Unlike other Move Consultancy practices, the Proprietor of Andy Carr Consultancy Services has actually carried out the physical relocation of many large projects within the Square Mile, as well as being an integral part of the Move Management planning process and client Move Teams.  It is this experience that makes us different from the others, and is a major USP in what we offer.  Andy Carr has been involved in the Office Relocation Industry for over 35 years having operated his own large Removal Businesses before stepping back to take up a role as a Management and Relocation Consultant.

Having planned and executed many relocations throughout the years of up to 4500 persons, which included joining and becoming a member of the client move teams at pre and post move planning sessions, there is not much that he hasn’t encountered.  Notably Andy was instrumental in planning and executing the clearance of all damaged furniture, the redeployment of all staff and salvaged filing, and the refurbishment of all useable furniture and IT within the entire Commercial Union St Helens Building in St Mary Axe, London, following the IRA bomb in April 1992.  This meant working on very tight timescales and working to strict health and safety regimes, with planned schedules changing on a daily basis to accommodate the needs of the client.

In addition to the above Andy has managed the relocation of the Football Association when relocating from Lancaster Gate to Soho Square which included the secure and covert relocation of the Original FA Cup, the replica Jules Rimet Trophy, the Charity Shield and all silverware owned by the FA. Since then much work has been carried out at the New Wembley Stadium, including the transportation and installation of all bespoke furniture for most of the corporate boxes within the complex, including the boxes owned by Chelsea Village, The Royal Bank of Scotland, British Petroleum and Merrill Lynch.

Other relocations of note (and one that also got TV exposure) was the removal of the Labour Party from the Millbank Tower to Old Queen Street, The Metropolitan Police Stations in both Bromley and Lewisham and The Mirror Group Newspapers in London and Canary Wharf as well as the largest relocation we have carried out to date involving the movement of 2500 staff, furniture, filing and effects from Marsh in Whitechapel High Street to their new European Headquarters at Tower Place.

In 2006 Andy was appointed as Chairman of the British Association of Removers Commercial Moving Group and was instrumental in creating and developing BS 8522, the British Standard specific to the Commercial Relocation industry.  Working with BSI on the development committee Andy took the concept from his initial idea to give more credibility to the Industry, through the development and application process, to publication by BSI and acceptance by the BAR, that all CMG member companies must hold and adhere to the standard.

Andy was MD of the first Company in the UK to achieve accreditation to the Standard in 2009.  Andy was also instrumental in bringing the idea of an Apprenticeship scheme to the Industry, that scheme has now been adopted and has recently gone live.  So when it comes to choosing your Commercial Relocation Consultant, your choice should never be in question.
